Holy City - Laurel Lamb
This blog post focuses on the Holy City, which is located in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. It is not actually a city, just a small group of stone buildings. Every year a group of people perform an Easter pageant at the Holy City. It is one of my favorite places to visit in the Wildlife Refuge, but not necessarily for religious reasons. Holding plenty of views of the mountains and the plains, the Holy City is simply a pretty place to walk around. The Wildlife Refuge can sometimes get packed with tourists and nature lovers, but this place usually stays quiet and easy-going. It is peaceful. The buildings' stone exteriors are unique and fit well with the surrounding environment. The Holy City also holds personal memories for me, as one of my brothers was married in the church in the second picture.
