The public spaces in front of the dorms at Columbia were quite interesting to me, expansive grass lawns, seating, and even a sheltered pavilion created a great area to spend time outdoors while not too far away from one’s living space. Additionally, the semi-uniform architecture for all of the residence halls in this area created a closer sense of community, not only in proximity, but in similarity.
