Lincoln Memorial - Nathan Ferraro

At the Lincoln Memorial, just a few steps down, you can find this powerful scene. This is the site of one of the most important events in the history of the United States. It turned the tide during the Civil Rights Movement and redefined the meaning of the Lincoln Memorial. Up to this point, the Lincoln Memorial was created to broadcast the message that Abraham Lincoln was the "savior of the union". After this event, the message shifted to Abraham Lincoln, "the emancipator". Slowly, this message has been accepted throughout the United States and is now primarily taught in elementary schools.
